はじめまして。Rainbow Family Gatheringの近藤佳帆子です。
Hi It's Kahoko from Rainbow Family Gathering.

私は旅行が好きで、日本はもちろん、海外の国にもたくさん旅行に行ってきました。
I love traveling and have visited many places both in Japan and abroad.

その中でいつも心に残るのは、きれいな建物や自然はもちろん、人との交流でした。
Among those experiences, what has always stayed in my heart is not only the beautiful architecture and nature, but also the connections with people.

英語をずっと勉強してきたので、英語を使って地元の人や現地で出会った観光客の人と話すことが楽しく、
しかし観光で訪れた場所では毎日観光客の相手をしている人とばかり話すので、地元の人と話せたら楽しいだろうなと
思っていました。
I have studied English for long and I enjoy using it to talk with local people and travelers I meet along the way.
However, when visiting a place as a tourist, I often find myself speaking mainly with people who work for tourists, and I have always thought how wonderful it would be to talk more with local people.

また、子供向けの英語教室をしていたこともあり、どうすれば日本人が英語を話すのが得意になれるのだろうというのも
ずっと考えてきました。
私自身は、10代のころから海外の映画を観たりモデルにあこがれて、英語を話せるようになりたいと思っており、
自分でインターネットで友達を作ったり、ホームステイのホストファミリーをしたりして外国の人との交流を深めてきました。
最近では幼稚園や小学校でも英語を教えていますが、英語というのはコミュニケーションなので、英語が上達するのに一番大切なのは「英語を話せるようになりたい」と本人が思うこと、そして「自分の英語が伝わった！」という感動だと思います。
このモチベーションなしに英語をやれ、と言われても、やる気がでないのは当然だと思います。
I have taught English and long wondered how Japanese people can become more comfortable and confident speaking English.
Personally, since my teenage years I have watched foreign movies and dramas, which inspired me to want to speak English. I made friends online and be host family and it helped me improve my English.
Because English is a tool for communication, it’s important to experience being understood when we speak, even with our accent.
Without this experience and motivation, children can't feel eager to learn English just because they are told to do so.

そこで、観光客の子供たちと日本の子供たちが交流できる場所をつくってみようと思いました。
大きな話になってしまいますが、戦争がなくならないこの世界で、小さな国際交流の場を作り、子供たちが全く異なる文化を持ったお友達と笑顔で遊ぶことで、平和な場所を増やしていきたいと思います。
So, I decided to create a place where visiting children and Japanese children can interact with each other.
In a world where wars still happen, I want to create peaceful spaces where children from different cultures can play together, and I hope it can contribute to world peace, even in a small way.
